ATMC is excited to announce that it is bringing fiber optic delivered broadband, cable TV and telephone service to Whiteville. Construction is now underway and should be complete next year. Work will begin along Highway 130 in the Town of Brunswick and move into south Whiteville. Areas in the north end of Whiteville will follow later.

THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

During construction, ATMC will be utilizing a combination of techniques to install the fiber optic lines. Please know that all work is being done within the approved utility easements as recorded and approved by Columbus County. ATMC respects everyone’s private property and will only construct within the legally defined utility easements. It is ATMC’s intent to minimize our footprint while working in your area.

You will notice crews digging holes, placing pipe and installing ground level distribution points in the coming days and weeks. Rest assured that ATMC’s crews will replace, restore or repair any damages that occur during this process.

While the construction of the ATMC network in Whiteville may cause some inconveniences, we will move quickly to complete work in your area and are committed to addressing all construction complaint issues in a timely manner.

Based on results from a survey of Whiteville residents, ATMC made the decision to bring our FOCUS fiber optic network to your area. We recently began the construction process of installing this fiber optic network. During construction, crews will be utilizing a combination of techniques to install the fiber optic lines and will work hard to minimize our footprint while working in your area.
Although you may not have contacted ATMC for service, there is work that must be done to every property to complete the fiber optic buildout. Underground utilities must be located and marked. The locating company will mark the utility locations, per state laws and regulations depending on the type of utility they are identifying. Fiber optic cables will also be buried on your property even if you do not choose to switch to ATMC. We assure you that all ATMC crews are working within the utility easement.
A utility easement is the area of your property that was defined for use by utility companies when the neighborhood was first developed. ATMC is using the publicly recorded plats that developers filed with Columbus County Register of Deeds to locate the utility easements along every street. Utility easements begin at the property line and extend 10 feet toward the residence. The property line is not necessarily at the curb. It is determined by the right-of-way, which may differ depending on the size of the roadway, radius of curves, cul-de-sacs, etc.
ATMC will restore or repair any damage that may occur during the construction process, including the replacement of sod. Any repairs caused by our construction will be made at our expense. If your yard has damage once crews have completed work, call 910-755-1815 or email /whiteville. Be sure to include your name, address, contact number, and a detailed description of the damage. Please allow time (one to two weeks) for your yard to settle before reporting any damage.
No. In most cases ATMC’s fiber optic equipment is at ground level unlike other providers which have pedestals above ground.
After the construction process is complete and the fiber has been installed, ATMC technicians will begin the splicing and testing phases. This process usually takes a couple weeks. Once testing is complete, an ATMC service representative will contact you to schedule an installation appointment.
ATMC Internet and telephone services will each need a dedicated Cat5-e cable. Many homes are already equipped with Cat5-e. ATMC will provide one Cat5-e cable at no charge, if your home needs it to accept our FOCUS service.
Standard installation is included, with certain offers. Standard installation includes installation of an electrical outlet at the ONT (Optical Network Terminal) and one Cat5-e cable, if needed. Installation of additional outlets, running additional wire(s), programming remotes/home integration devices is not included with standard installation.
Yes, ATMC has the ability to port your existing telephone number without an interruption of service.
As we move throughout each phase of your neighborhood, some homes will be able to receive services sooner than others. Please refer to the map above for construction status updates. ATMC representatives will also distribute door hangers at each residence as service becomes available.
